I loved meeting Caitlin and her mom when they came in for our first consult. Everything felt so comfortable and easy with them, I was thrilled when Caitlin said she definitely wanted to book! Fast forward to now, a little over 2 years later, and I am counting down the weeks until I get to be in the birth room with her again as she and Scott bring another little boy into the world. As we all get more and more excited about meeting their new baby, I thought it was about time I sat down and blogged Hudson's birth! "In the weeks leading up to Hudson's birth, I read lots of books, articles and blogs. I also cleaned the house like a nesting mom for a straight month and prayed that everything would go smoothly! Ultimately I knew that God wouldn't give us anything we couldn't handle." "I had gone to the doctor to a check up on Friday, July 8 and was told I was 2cm dilated. I was 38 weeks and miserable. My mom came up to stay on Tuesday, July 12, and she told me she would make me whatever I wanted for dinner. I told her I wanted whatever would put me into labor. So, we started googling labor inducing recipes. We came across an eggplant Parmesan recipe from an Italian restaurant in Georgia that promises it puts at least 300 women in labor a year. Off to HEB we went! My mom also said it would be good for me to walk around. We bought the EXACT ingredients and my mom made the recipe exactly as the recipe said. I ate 2 servings around 8pm and went to bed hoping, but doubtful, that the recipe would work. I had light contractions, but didn't think anything of it as they were pretty far apart. Then at 2 am I got up to go to the bathroom and as I was getting back into bed my water broke. Yay! It worked! I showered, woke up Scott, loaded up the bags and we were off to the hospital ready to meet our little boy!" It was early morning when I got the call from Caitlin and Scott. I remember weaving through traffic between San Antonio and New Braunfels repeating "please let me get there". It's something I pretty much do EVERY time I head to a birth until I'm actually walking into the birth room. LOL "Everyone was there, waiting for Hudson! Oma, Opa, Great Auntie Doreen, and our birth photographer, Jennifer. Never did I ever imagine that I would have a birth photographer. It didn't cross my mind until one of my very good friends had her birth photographed and it was so special. She told me I must do it. After seeing her photographs, I knew I had to look into it. I was nervous, I mean, after all, having someone you've only spoken to a couple of times in your delivery room at such an intimate moment in your life can be a little overwhelming to think about. But Jennifer made the birth that much more special. It was incredible. Knowing that we can relive those moments is something that she gave us and we are so blessed to have had her there. In fact, looking back, I wondered why I had doubted myself. It was both an amazing and a very chaotic time filled with lots of emotion and we're so glad we have the photographs to look back on and remember every feeling we felt that day. We have already said we will have her at all of the births! If you're on the fence about a birth photographer, do it!! You won't regret it! " "Labor progressed smoothly, and at 1 PM, on July 13, 2016, our lives changed forever! The doctor lifted him to me and I just took him in. That full head of hair and chubby cheeks... those little suck marks on his tiny arm from him sucking in the womb. Every tiny detail. Perfection, Hudson was absolute perfection. I didn't know I could love so much. I thought my heart was going to explode! Scott was crying the moment he saw him, it was such a raw emotion he couldn't hold back the tears even if he tried. It was truly the best feeling ever!" "My sweet boy, all 6 pounds, 9 ounces of him. Every time I look at him, still to this day, I am in awe. It's like he is my entire heart walking around outside of my body. We had a wonderful birth at our hospital, there are lots of options out there for moms and my best advice is to do whatever you feel comfortable with and go with what your heart is telling you. Mother instincts kick in way before your baby is in your arms. Trust them!
Hudson has a little brother coming, and we can't wait to meet him!"

What a family. You captured their story beautifully for the second time. I love the images of mum holding her baby for the first time what beautiful memories for them to cherish forever!
